   d) Undergraduate Research Scholarships competition summary
      - Committee: Alex Gezerlis (Guelph), Chris Ruiz (TRIUMF), GH
      - 16 applications were received
      - the Board had authorized 6x$6k URS, so the competition was VERY tight

   e) Graduate Fellowships competition summary
      - Committee: Ruben Sandapen, Chair (Acadia), Andrea Capra (TRIUMF), Gwen
        Grinyer (Regina)
      - 13 applications, down slightly from last year
      - 3x$10k awards made
      - the simplifications to the application form seemed to work well

      - feedback from the selection committee:
"The committee found that several of the applicants didn't provide a
well-defined research plan. Students typically used this section to
give an overview of the physics motivation, the overarching questions
of their respective research collaborations, and why it's
important. But many didn't describe very well what their specific role
was in these larger collaborations and exactly what they will be doing
for their research projects over the course of the 1 year of the
         proposed CINP grad fellowship.

The rubric given to evaluate the applications doesn't explicitly
mention how to rank the "Educational Objectives and Professional
Goals". It's not obvious whether it's relevant to assess the
candidates since some provided a very short-term perspective and
others a very broad outlook. It might be possible to tune
either the request or the rubric to distill more useful information
         about the students."
