The laboratory for the study of atomic nuclei (LENA) of CEA Paris-Saclay, France, is opening a junior staff scientist position for an outstanding physicist in the field of experimental nuclear physics with a strong focus on nuclear structure.

The LENA is part of the Nuclear Physics Division (DPhN) of the Institute of Research into the Fundamental Laws of the Universe (Irfu) located at CEA-Saclay (France). It is composed of twelve permanent staff physicists working in the field of nuclear physics on both theoretical and experimental aspects. Irfu is a highly dynamic scientific environment including research divisions on astrophysics, nuclear and particle physics as well as strong technical and engineering divisions in instrumentation, cryogenics and accelerator technologies. Inside Irfu, DPhN focuses its research on the nucleon and the nucleus, with studies ranging from nuclear structure and reactions to hadron structure and quark gluon plasma.

Candidates should send a cover letter describing their research activities and prospects, a Curriculum Vitae including a list of recent or important publications, at least two letters of recommendation, and when applicable an electronic copy of their PhD thesis as well as the jury reports on their manuscript and/or PhD defense. The Physics Department of the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position in the experimental nuclear physics group. This position presents opportunity to work in national Labs on two projects, the currently running GlueX Experiment in Hall D at Jefferson Lab and the future Electron Ion Collider Detector.

The successful applicant is expected to play an important role in the R&D program of the PID system for the future Electron Ion Collider detector. It focuses on innovative instrumentation technology to push DIRC detector technology beyond the state of the arc by developing the High-performance DIRC detector. The position will provide the opportunity to work both on simulations and a wide range of instrumentation activities.

The second part of the position will allow to make significant contributions to data analysis with the GlueX hadronic physics program, which is currently ongoing.

Both projects will provide the opportunity to be co-author of several publications.

The position is to be based on Jefferson Lab.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics. Experience with detector instrumentation and physics analysis is desirable. Candidates must submit a resume, a list of publications with significant contributions, a statement of research interests. The lattice QCD group at Temple University is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The starting date is negotiable but is expected to be in the Fall of 2020. The position is for two years with a possible extension for a third year subject to funds availability. The successful candidate will join the group of Prof. Martha Constantinou and will work on topics related hadron structure within the project "EIC physics from Lattice QCD", funded by the US Department of Energy. The appointment will be for two years with the possibility of extension for another year. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physics and a strong research record in lattice QCD. The experimental nuclear physics group at Iowa State University invites applications for a post-doctoral position to work on the sPHENIX experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The successful applicant will be expected to take a leadership role in the sPHENIX Topical Working Groups to develop the sPHENIX physics program, with an emphasis on jets, jet structure and heavy flavor measurements. In addition, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in the development of detector systems for the sPHENIX experiment, including electronics, simulations and test beam qualification of prototypes for sPHENIX forward instrumentation and potential use in a future EIC detector. The position will also offer data analysis opportunities afforded by existing data from the PHENIX and ATLAS experiments. The Physics Department at Temple University invites applications for a postdoctoral associate position in the field of experimental nuclear physics. The Temple University nuclear physics group is seeking outstanding candidates to be involved in its Jefferson Lab 12 GeV upgrade science program. Our group is leading a strong experimental program in Hall C that involves the currently ongoing A1n experiment, the upcoming d2n experiment, and the threshold J/psi production and VCS experiments which are currently in their data analysis phase. The group has a strong commitment to the SoLID program in Hall A, while other activities involve an R&D effort towards novel detector systems that will be used in a high luminosity and high acceptance environment, as well as research activities within the CLAS12 collaboration at JLab. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assume a leading role within the A1n and d2n experiments, and to contribute to the groups efforts towards future opportunities with SoLID in Hall A at JLab and at an electron ion collider (EIC). A combination of strong skills in hardware and software is required for this position. A PhD in nuclear or particle physics is required.
