Research Associate position on Heavy Ion Reactions at Beijing Normal University

The Symmetry Energy Project group at Beijing Normal University is looking for an experimental Research Associate. Successful candidate is expected to join the SPiRIT collaboration. SPiRIT stands for SAMURAI Pion Reconstruction Ion Tracker which is a Time Projection Chamber (TPC) built to fit inside the SAMURAI dipole magnet at RIKEN. One major scientific goal of the collaboration is to determine the Equation of State of Asymmetric Nuclear Matter by measuring the density dependence of the symmetry energy. Construction of the SPiRIT TPC at Michigan State University (MSU) is near completion and will be shipped to RIKEN, Japan early next year. The Research Associate is expected to spend time in RIKEN working on the installation and testing of the TPC as well as development of analysis software. The TPC experimental program is expected to start in Spring of 2015. In addition to experiments at RIKEN, there are opportunities for the Research Associate to participate in experiments at the Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory at Michigan State University working with Professor Betty Tsang. The cross-continents collaboration provides a great opportunity for anyone interested in research in nuclear reactions at low to medium energy. Interested applicants should send their CVs or inquiries to fszhang@bnu.edu.cn or tsang@nscl.msu.edu.
