Assistant Research Professor Position - Norfolk State University

Assistant Research Professor
Experimental Nuclear/Particle Physics
Norfolk State University

Norfolk State University (NSU) announces an Assistant Research Professor position in experimental nuclear/particle physics. This position would be based at the nearby Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab). Continuation of the proton form factor ratio measurements in experiment GEp(5), which will extend the data set in four-momentum up to about 12 GeV2 in Hall A after the 12 GeV upgrade of CEBAF is completed, will be a major scientific focus of this position. This experiment is being prepared by the Super Bigbite Spectrometer (SBS) collaboration, and the NSU group is part of this collaboration. The assistant research professor is expected to contribute to preparations for the GEp(5) experiment, including equipment, data acquisition, as well as assist in the development of data analysis software. Experience in working with particle detectors and in analyzing data is essential. A background in lepton scattering physics and in Monte Carlo simulations would be desirable. The position requires a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics. The initial appointment will be made for one year and is renewable for one more year, based upon mutual agreement and funding considerations. Applicants should submit their CV and arrange to have three letters of reference sent to: Prof. Vina Punjabi (vapunjabi@nsu.edu). Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Norfolk State University is an EEO/AA employer.
