Post-doctoral Researcher Position in Experimental Nuclear Physics at the University of York

The Nuclear Physics Group is seeking to recruit a research associate with a PhD in experimental nuclear physics to support research into fission, nuclear spectroscopy and reactions with exotic nuclei. We are looking for an individual who holds or is about to graduate with a PhD in experimental nuclear physics to assist with the group’s studies of shape co-existence, nuclear spectroscopy and nuclear fission.
The work will be carried out using a variety of facilities, including the ISOLDE facility at CERN, JAEA(Tokai), and RIKEN (Japan), JUROGAM plus RITU at Jyvaskyla, Argonne National Lab and other facilities. The facility chosen for any experiment depends on the availability of beams and apparatus at a given time as well as the key physics issue to be addressed.

Salary will be within the range of £30,434 - £37,394 a year and is available for a period of up to 24 months. However, if an offer is made above the minimum salary point, the appointment will duration will be reduced accordingly.
