Postdoc in Experimental Electroweak Nuclear/Particle Physics
The Nuclear Physics group at Temple University has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research associate in experimental nuclear/particle physics. Ongoing projects include detection of neutrinos from nuclear reactors (Daya Bay and PROSPECT) and electron scattering measurements relevant to neutron stars (PREX & CREX at Jefferson Lab). Daya Bay is a mature experiment, collecting data aimed at measuring θ13. PROSPECT, currently under development, is a precision measurement of the neutrino spectrum from HFIR at ORNL. PREX and CREX will measure the neutron skin thicknesses of 208Pb and 48Ca using parity violating electron scattering. Our group has hardware and data analysis roles in all of these experiments.
A doctoral degree in physics is required, with experience in experimental nuclear/particle physics and appropriate technologies preferred. The initial appointment is for two years, with possibility for renewal. Applications will be considered starting immediately, until the position is filled.
