Nuclear Science Week - Oct 19-23, 2015
Dear CINP members,
As discussed at the annual general meeting in June of 2015, there was a lot of interest expressed by CINP members to participate in Nuclear Science Week (NSW).
Nuclear Science Week is a broadly observed, week-long celebration to focus international interest on all aspects of nuclear science and will take place October 19-23, 2015. NSW will be recognized for the sixth year this October, providing a platform where educators, students and members of the community participate in an international recognition of how nuclear science plays a vital role in the lives of people around the world.
An activity can take any form, but the simplest is to invite the public to come and hear why nuclear science research is critical to Canada’s future. In order to encourage nuclear physicists across Canada to hold a public talk to discuss “What’s new and exciting in the world of nuclear science?” we have prepared slides that can serve as a template for outreach talks. These slides are available below.
The file provides a starting point for speakers; please change these slides as much or as little as you’d like, adding in information about your personal research or other areas of nuclear science that you’d like to talk about.
It is my sincere hope that you consider this wonderful opportunity to support this nuclear science initiative and international project. For more information, and to support Nuclear Science Week 2015, please contact me at jmdonev@ucalgary.ca.
Sincerely,
Jason Donev, P. Phys.
