JLab Hall D postdoc position

SALARY RANGE: $51,500 - $77,300 (PD)
Hall D/GlueX is a new facility for high-intensity photon beam experiments at Jefferson Lab. The initial physics program includes the search for gluon excitations in the light meson spectra and precise measurements in Primakoff reactions. The commissioning of the facility is under way and the next beam delivery is scheduled for November 2015.
The Hall D postdoctoral fellow is expected to take part in commissioning and calibration of detector systems, as well as in construction of a new particle identification detector for Hall D, based on the DIRC technology.
It is also expected that the postdoctoral fellow will take part in the initial physics program and in developing new experimental ideas, along with the staff scientists and the user community.
Position Requirements
A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear, particle, or high-energy astrophysics is required. Experience working with particle detectors and in analyzing data is essential. Previous experience in photo/electro-production physics or meson spectroscopy using partial-wave analysis would be a plus.
The appointment will be made initially for two (2) years and may be renewed for up to one additional year.
