At Jefferson Lab Hall D, the UMass group is leading the approved charged pion polarizability experiment, and the design and construction of muon detectors for that measurement. At Mainz, the UMass group has a leadership role in the spin-polarized Compton scattering program, and measurements of proton spin-polarizabilities. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of an extension for up to two additional years

Requirements:

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics.

Additional Information:

The home location for this position will be at Jefferson Lab in Virginia, with occasional travel to UMass Amherst and Germany.
