Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in experimental nuclear Physics: University of Michigan

The University of Michigan medium energy group invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate Position. The successful candidate will join our ongoing Drell-Yan effort with the SeaQuest collaboration at Fermilab. SeaQuest will evolve over the next several years from running with unpolarized liquid hydrogen and deuterium targets to running with a polarized frozen ammonia target to study the u-bar Sivers functions and its connection to the orbital angular momentum of light sea quarks. The successful candidate will be involved in the current Drell-Yan measurements of the d_bar over u_bar ratio, but the primary focus will be with the development, installation and running of the polarized frozen ammonia target. Previous experience with cryogenic targets and especially with polarized solid targets will be advantageous.

The position requires residence in the vicinity of Fermilab and periodic travel to the University of Michigan. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics. The position is available starting 6/1/2016, or at a later, mutually agreed date. The initial appointment is for one year, renewable by mutual agreement for up to three years. The University of Michigan is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.

Candidates should send a cover letter, a CV, and have three letters of recommendation sent to:
