UConn postdoc posting

The Hadronic Physics Group, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, at the University of Connecticut is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to develop a software framework for the computation of SIDIS structure functions on the basis of given "model input" or "trial parametrizations", and for the SIDIS event generators. Such a framework would be used in the future for 3-D PDF extractions and validations. We are looking either for an experimentalist with strong theory background, or for a theorist interested in close collaboration with experimentalists. The successful candidate will be expected to play a leading role in the design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance of the framework. The Fellow will be stationed at Jefferson Lab, making periodic visits to UConn as required by the research efforts of the group, and will help supervise the efforts of graduate students from the group stationed at Jefferson Lab.

The successful candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills as demonstrated by scientific publications in major refereed journals, conference presentations, etc., and a general knowledge of nuclear and particle physics.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience/expertise in the following areas is strongly desired: Physics of medium- or high-energy electron scattering; Radiative correction calculations for electron scattering experiments; Modelling of structure functions; Implementation of QCD-evolution equations; JAVA/C++ programming; Monte Carlo simulation; and/or Modern statistical analysis techniques.
