LANL Nuclear/High-Energy Physicist (Scientist 2/3)

The Physics Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory invites applicants for a staff scientist position in the High Energy Nuclear Physics team of the Subatomic Physics Group (P-25). The team studies the structure of the nucleon, high-energy heavy ion physics, initial state QCD effects and gluon saturation physics. The team is currently involved in the PHENIX and sPHENIX experiments at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and in SeaQuest (E906) at Fermilab. At Fermilab, the team co-leads the polarized target program at SeaQuest, experiment E1039. Additional activities include the development of a Monolithic-Active-Pixel-Sensor (MAPS) based vertex detector for the next generation heavy ion experiment, sPHENIX, and future EIC efforts.
