POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN SPIN PHYSICS

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for a term appointment to conduct research in experimental nucleon spin physics. The appointed individual will primarily work on analysis of polarized proton data taken in 2015 and 2017 by the STAR experiment at the Brookhaven National Laboratory. In particular, initial analysis will focus on AN for (single) diffractive events (determined by the Roman pots) combined with cross section through jets in the endcap calorimeter (EEMC) to help understand the origin of the observed large forward AN. The UCR spin group is also working on analysis involving the FMS system, future forward upgrades at RHIC, and calorimeter development for the EIC. The group works closely with UCR's heavy-ion group, which is led by Richard Seto. The candidate may be in residence at Brookhaven National Laboratory or in Riverside depending on the exact work plan.

Applicants should submit a resume highlighting personal research achievements, a list of publications where your contributions were significant, and a statement of research interests and expertise to Prof. Kenneth Barish (Kenneth.Barish@ucr.edu). In addition, the applicant should arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be sent to the above address. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
