PDF opportunity -- Mississippi State Univ

The Medium Energy Physics (MEP) Group at Mississippi State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The group has research interests which include studies of nucleon structure and hadronic physics at Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA, such as the precision measurement of the proton and deuteron charge radii, charge symmetry violation in quark distributions, and search for the onset of color transparency. The MEP group recently completed two experiments in the newly upgraded Hall C using the 11 GeV electron beam.

We are looking for candidates who will be stationed at Jefferson Lab and will lead our effort in putting together the spectator tagged deep inelastic scattering (TDIS) experiment in Hall A. The candidate will also have opportunities to actively participate in the data analysis of the recently completed experiments in Hall C and in the development of new experiments such as the deuteron charge radius experiment.

A PhD in experimental nuclear or particle physics or related fields is required. The initial appointment is for one year and can commence as early as April 15, 2019. The appointment can be extended for a maximum of two additional years, based on mutual satisfaction and continued funding. Prior experience with Geant4 simulation of nuclear or particle physics experiments is preferred.

Screening of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants must apply online at www.msujobs.msstate.edu, submit a vita and brief statement of research interests, and have three letters of recommendation sent to: Prof. Dipangkar Dutta (d.dutta@ msstate.edu),
