Assistant Professor Position at William & Mary

The Department of Physics at William & Mary seeks applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in experimental hadronic physics to begin in Fall 2020. You would be expected to establish an internationally recognized research program that complements and enhances the existing strengths in the department, which currently has 27 full-time faculty members, approximately 55 PhD graduate students, and a substantial number of undergraduate majors who actively participate in its various research programs. The department currently has 4 faculty members active in experimental nuclear physics, with a broad program centering on hadronic and electroweak physics at nearby Jefferson Lab. William & Mary has a strong tradition of excellent teaching, and you would be expected to play an important role in mentoring both doctoral and undergraduate students in the Physics Department. Required Qualifications: Applicants must hold a PhD in nuclear physics, or a closely related field of physics, at the time of appointment, August 10, 2020. Applicants must apply online at https://jobs.wm.edu. Submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, and statements of research and teaching interests, which should discuss how you would help efforts to improve diversity, equity and inclusion. You will be prompted to submit online the names and email addresses of three references who will be contacted by the system with instructions for how to submit a letter of reference. For full consideration, submit application materials by the review date, December 1, 2019. Applications received after the review date will be considered if needed. William & Mary and the Department of Physics value diversity (bit.ly/physicsvalues) and invite applicants from underrepresented groups who will enrich the research, teaching, and service missions of the university. We are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer, and we encourage applications from women, minorities, protected veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
