Assistant Professor in Experimental Nuclear Physics

The Department of Physics at the University of Guelph invites applications for a faculty position in experimental nuclear physics at the Assistant Professor level. This is a tenure-track faculty position at the University of Guelph that will be jointly funded for the initial six-year period by TRIUMF, Canada’s national particle accelerator centre. We are specifically looking for candidates who will complement and reinforce the University of Guelph’s strong experimental research programs in low-energy nuclear physics, which revolve around major Guelph-led gamma-ray spectrometers at TRIUMF’s Isotope Separator and Accelerator (ISAC) facility and the new Advanced Rare Isotope Laboratory (ARIEL) at TRIUMF.  All areas of experimental nuclear physics will be considered, but preference will be given to the following: nuclear structure, nuclear astrophysics, and low-energy fundamental symmetry tests with radioactive ion beams. The successful candidate is expected to establish a vigorous externally-funded research program at TRIUMF’s ISAC/ARIEL facilities.  The anticipated start date for this appointment is a mutually agreed-upon date in 2025.
