Assistant Professor in Theoretical Nuclear Physics (Tenure Track)

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Ohio University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Theoretical Nuclear Physics beginning in August 2022. The initial appointment is partially funded by the FRIB Theory Alliance, We seek a colleague who will establish a vigorous, independent research program that contributes strongly to FRIB Science: the fundamental interactions of nuclei, their structure and reactions, and their origin in the universe. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Physics or a related field by the start date of the position.  We encourage applicants with a strong record of independent research and some postdoctoral experience to apply.

The department includes 26 tenured faculty, 70 graduate students, and 80 undergraduate majors. We are dedicated to educating undergraduate and graduate students through their participation in a diverse and inclusive departmental community.  The successful candidate will therefore be an effective classroom teacher and supervisor of student research and will interact with students and colleagues in ways that promote equity and inclusion.

The new hire will join our Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics. The Institute is home to the on-campus Edwards Accelerator Laboratory and has active research programs in experimental low-energy nuclear physics, the physics of hadrons, relativistic heavy-ion collisions, applied nuclear physics, and nuclear theory.
