Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached CV and Research Statement to the application) PhD (or foreign equivalent or higher) in Experimental Nuclear , Particle or connected fields in Physics by November 15, 2020.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in using MC generators and detector simulations. Interest or experience in working with theorists & experimentalists on QCD phenomenology will be considered a positive.

Brief Description of Duties: The successful candidate will work at the CFNS/Stony Brook - Center for Frontiers in Nuclear Science (under the supervision of Abhay Deshpande or a suitable supervisor nominated by him at the Center) primarily on physics topics associated with the Electron Ion Collider (EIC). We are looking for candidates with experience working at RHIC, JLab, LHC or HERA. The successful candidate will work on physics and detector design projects for the EIC using Monte Carlo generators and advanced detector simulation software. They will also work on an on-going experimental activity at RHIC and JLab. If interested and able the successful candidate will also learn and work on QCD phenomenology related EIC physics. Interested candidates will also have an opportunity to learn and practice teaching skills in classroom setting at Stony Brook University. CFNS fellows are generously supported for travel for scientific meetings, lead & organize workshops and for hosting short term visitors.

Duties will include:

  • Research on the science of EIC to deepen and enhance its science case.
  • Research on a current project (RHIC or JLab12) the physics of which is connected to that of the EIC.
  • Presentation of the research results at various national and international conferences.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental missions.
