Faculty positions - Quark-Nuclear Science Institute, University of Tokyo
The Quark Nuclear Science Institute of the Graduate School of Science,
The University of Tokyo, is inviting applications for two positions of
professor (non fixed-term), two positions of associate professor (non
fixed-term)
one position of assistant professor (non fixed-term) as outlined below.
The Quark Nuclear Science Institute aims to promote cutting-edge
research across a broad range of nuclear physics, spanning from quarks
to nuclei, and to serve as a central hub in the global research
network. We welcome applications not only from researchers who have
been advancing international collaborative experiments such as the EIC
and research in high-energy nuclear physics, but also from ambitious
researchers who are eager to develop new research directions inspired
by the opportunities offered by the EIC.
In FY2026, within the Division for the Promotion of the International
Quantum Physics Network, the Institute will establish an International
Research Base Office, in addition to the existing EIC Promotion
Office. Branch offices will be established at Brookhaven National
Laboratory (BNL) and Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility
(JLab). The Institute will also establish an Advanced Technology
Development Office to promote research and development of advanced
detector, data acquisition, and computing infrastructure technologies
driven by the EIC project. This office will pursue the integrated
development of semiconductor sensors, advanced DAQ systems, AI,
high-performance computing technologies, and related areas.
Furthermore, an International Research Deployment Office will be
established within the same division to oversee the strategic
development of international collaborative research, coordination with
domestic and overseas research institutions, effective utilization of
research resources, and dissemination and deployment of research
outcomes.
The faculty positions to be recruited in this call are as follows:
One professor and one associate professor primarily responsible for
the International Research Base Office;
One professor and one associate professor primarily responsible for
the Advanced Technology Development Office;
One assistant professor affiliated with the Advanced Technology
Development Office, who will also work in close coordination with the
International Research Base Office.
