Nuclear Theory PDF position

The Nuclear Theory Group at Penn State Berks and the Physics Division Theory Group at Argonne National Laboratory invites applications for a joint postdoctoral position. The appointment will initially be for two years contingent on funding and performance, with a possible extension to a third year.

The postdoc is expected to work closely with Professors Leonard Gamberg and Alexei Prokudin at PSU Berks, and Dr. Ian Cloet at Argonne. For the first year the candidate will be located at Penn State Berks, and the second year at Argonne National Laboratory, however the candidate will have the opportunity to spend time at both locations during the postdoc position.

The group's research interests and activities are concentrated on QCD and hadron structure. This includes: the application of (non-)perturbative QCD to the spatial and momentum imaging of hadrons; QCD factorization theorems; the calculation and extraction of transverse momentum dependent distributions from the experimental data; and the implication of such studies for current and future experimental programs in nuclear physics. A strong publication record in these areas of interest is required. Candidates must have earned their PhD at the time of hire.

Application materials should include: a cover letter, CV, research statement, a publication list, and 3 letters of recommendation, which should be sent to Leonard Gamberg at lpg10@psu.edu.

To be formally considered for the position, applicants should also submit their application materials to the Penn State Career Website at http://hr.psu.edu/careers. Please contact Lara Wiggins, Recruiting and Sourcing Specialist, at llw5232@psu.edu for questions on the hiring process.

For further inquiries, please contact Leonard Gamberg at lpg10@psu.edu.
Requested materials must be received by January 15, 2021 to receive full consideration;
however, review of applications will begin immediately.
