Old Dominion PDF positions

The ODU Research Foundation is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in experimental nuclear/particle physics to work with Old Dominion University's experimental nuclear physics group. The successful applicant will be expected to take a leadership role in one of the experimental programs led by our group at Jefferson Lab (Newport News, VA). This includes the GlueX experiment and the K-long Facility in Hall D, as well as experiments in Halls A, B and C. We are looking for a candidate who will also enjoy the opportunity to supervise our undergraduate and graduate students working on these experiments. Job Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and running upcoming experiments
  • Analyzing data obtained in these experiments
  • Make necessary simulations for K-long Facility beamline
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate students
  • Present research findings at scientific conferences, publish research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and participate in the writing of research grant applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The following skills and experiences are required:

  • PhD in nuclear, particle or other related field of physics.
  • Previous research experience (at least 1-2 years), which can occur while receiving PHD.
