PDF Position in Atomic Parity Violation (Argonne National Lab - OU partnership)

The HLD Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Center for Quantum Research and Technology at the University of Oklahoma (OU) invites applications for a postdoctoral associate position to perform research on precision measurements of parity violation in the weak force in the group of Dr. Emine Altuntas.

This position is part of a DOE Office of Nuclear Physics funded partnership between OU and the Fundamental Symmetries group at Argonne National Lab. The successful candidate will be joining the ZOMBIES experiment, led by Dr. David DeMille, located at Argonne National Lab.

ZOMBIES experiment uses the methods of atomic, molecular, optical (AMO) and quantum physics towards measurements of the anapole moments of nuclei. Near term research aim is to make the first measurements of nuclear anapole moments associated primarily with neutrons. For additional information about the ZOMBIES experiment, please visit: demillegroup.psd.uchicago.edu/research/...

The initial appointment will be for two years, and is renewable for another one or two years, with satisfactory performance and mutual agreement. The start date of the appointment is flexible. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities at the Argonne National Lab, and an outstanding academic environment that includes a large team of experts.
