PDF position Indiana University

The Physics Department at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for a postdoctoral position with its experimental hadronic physics group (hpg.sitehost.iu.edu).  The research activities of the group focus on hadron spectroscopy with an emphasis on the search for and study of nonconventional mesons using the GlueX and BESIII experiments.  The group seeks a postdoctoral research associate to contribute to its strong participation in the GlueX experiment.  The successful candidate will be expected to take a leading role in the search for hybrid mesons using the recently collected data by the GlueX collaboration.  The group has also constructed, commissioned, and maintained the forward electromagnetic calorimeter for GlueX, and the candidate may continue to coordinate maintenance and calibration efforts for this detector.  The position may be based either at Jefferson Lab or on campus in Bloomington, IN.

A Ph.D. in experimental high-energy or nuclear physics is required at time of appointment.  The starting date is negotiable; however, it is expected that the appointment will start on or before September 1.

Applications, including a CV, statement of research interests, and three letters of reference, should be submitted through the application portal located at   https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__indiana.peopleadmin.com_postings_9589&d=DwIFAg&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=tazrxeWNSMXmTou67fbcwNE89TW7ENeVV0zS3oeCzZc&m=mWdYzmM21QkNGRP0ZBm-F3FVOPu6crAnhEXaN6wdMUc&s=XVr0wFHJ8uyn3uQ3aRBDiaGq5NoZD_IypckWV6Jy10U&e= .

Informal inquiries may be made with Prof. Matthew Shepherd (mashephe@indiana.edu) Indiana University, Physics Department, 727 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN, 47405, 812-855-1247.

Review of applications will commence on June 15 and will continue until the positions are filled.  The position is annually renewable assuming satisfactory performance.
