PDF position -- UC Berkeley heavy ion group

The UC Berkeley heavy ion group is looking for a postdoc to work with the LBNL Relativistic Nuclear Collisions program.  The successful candidate will divide their time between ALICE at the LHC and the Electron-Ion Collider, working on physics topics that are synergistic between the two venues, most likely involving photoproduction and probes of the gluon distribution in heavy nuclei.  At ALICE, this will likely involve analysis of data on ultra-peripheral collisions.   For the EIC, the chosen candidate will work on some combination of exclusive reactions (vector meson production etc.) and silicon detector work.

We are looking with candidates with a recent PhD in nuclear and/or particle physics (or related field), with experience using modern data analysis tools (ROOT/C++ and/or python) and working in large collaborations.

The appointment will initially be for two years, with a possible extension for a third.
