Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Nuclear Physics at Indiana University

The Physics Department at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for a postdoctoral position with its experimental hadronic physics group (hpg.sitehost.iu.edu).  The research activities of the group focus on hadron spectroscopy with an emphasis on the search for and study of nonconventional mesons.  The group plays a leading role in the study of nonconventional charmonium mesons at the BESIII experiment at the Institute of High Energy Physics in Beijing, China, and is one of the founding members of the GlueX experiment at Jefferson Lab in United States.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the data analysis activities of the GlueX Collaboration, including mentoring graduate students.  A Ph.D. in experimental high-energy or nuclear physics is required by time of appointment.  It is envisioned that the candidate will be based at Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA, but alternate arrangements may be considered.  The appointment could begin as early as November 1, 2022.

Applications, including a CV, a statement of research interests, and three letters of reference, should be submitted through the application portal located at:

Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled. The position is annually renewable assuming satisfactory performance.  Questions about the position can be directed to Matthew Shepherd (mashephe@indiana.edu) or the Physics Department at 812-855-1247.
