Postdoctoral Research Positions in Experimental Relativistic Heavy-Ion Physics at Wayne State University

The Experimental High Energy Nuclear Physics group at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Wayne State University, invites applications for postdoctoral Research Associate positions. Well-qualified candidates will be considered at the level of Research Assistant Professor (not tenure-track).
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in high energy nuclear or particle physics and have experience with data analysis. The Wayne State group (Professors W. Llope, C. Pruneau, J. Putschke, and S.
Voloshin) is a member of the sPHENIX and STAR Collaborations at RHIC, the ALICE Collaboration at the LHC, and the ePIC Collaboration at the upcoming electron-Ion Collider (EIC). Our group profits from close collaboration with a local large theory group as well as the X-SCAPE/JETSCAPE and BEST theory collaborations.

The successful candidates will be welcomed to join the sPHENIX Collaboration and contribute by performing data analyses and simulations in the areas of multi-particle correlations, jet tomography & energy loss, or related topics. Depending on interest, other directions are also available, such as EIC physics and ePIC hardware development, developing Machine Learning (ML) approaches for sPHENIX jet physics, and joint appointments with the JETSCAPE/X-SCAPE theory collaboration.
While a fully-remote position is possible, some priority may be given to candidates who are able to relocate to Southeast Michigan or Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York.
