Postdoctoral researcher in experimental nuclear and particle physics, University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to work at Jefferson Lab, where the group is working on measurements of the charged and neutral pion electromagnetic polarizabilities at Hall D, and the neutral pion transition form factor at Hall B. Data on the pion electromagnetic polarizabilities, which are currently under analysis, will test fundamental symmetries and low energy predictions of QCD. The PrimEx neutral pion transition form factor measurement, which is expected to take data in 2026, will provide an important constraint on the largest hadronic-light-by-light scattering contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment, muon g-2.  There will also be ample opportunities for developing an independent research program in Hall D, and details of the Hall D GlueX experimental program can be found at  https://halldweb.jlab.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page .  R. Miskimen at miskimen@umass.edu can be contacted for more information about this position.  A PhD in experimental nuclear or particle physics is required. Please apply through this link:

Along with the application, please submit a CV, a statement of research interests and arrange for two letters of reference to be submitted before the priority application deadline of July 13, 2024 . Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled. The position may start during the summer or early fall of 2024.
