Applications are invited for a postdoctoral associate or senior research associate position in experimental nuclear physics in the group of Prof. Mark Pitt at Virginia Tech. The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to make important contributions to the development of the MOLLER project at Jefferson Laboratory. The MOLLER experiment is a parity-violating electron scattering experiment in preparation for Hall A at Jefferson Laboratory. Its goal is to search for physics beyond the Standard Model at the TeV scale. The work will involve simulation, design, construction, and testing of hardware for the experiment and planning for the execution of the experiment. Duties may also include supervising and coordinating the work of other researchers and personnel, especially graduate and undergraduate students.

The position is for one year initially, with the possibility of renewal for up to three years, contingent on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.  The position will preferably be based at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA, but being based at Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA can also be considered.  Travel between Virginia Tech and Jefferson Lab will be required.  Inquires regarding the position can be directed to: Prof. Mark Pitt (

Review of applications will begin on February 15, 2021.  The nominal start date is March 15, 2021, but the position will remain open until filled.

Based on the credentials of the successful candidate, the offer rank may be at either postdoctoral associate or senior research associate.
