The Department of Physics at Old Dominion University (ODU) is seeking a non-tenure track faculty member with research expertise and interests in experimental Nuclear and Particle Physics. The successful applicant is expected to support the ongoing research of the experimental Nuclear/Particle Physics group at the nearby Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. In particular, the incumbent is expected to contribute to the data taking and analysis with the CLAS12 spectrometer in Hall B where the ODU group is leading several experiments. For this reason, extensive, multi-year experience beyond the Ph.D. with the CLAS12 hardware and software environment and in particular the JAVA-based data analysis packages is expected. Candidates who have had a leadership role on recently completed experiments with CLAS12 are particularly encouraged to apply.

Requirements:

• Demonstrated ability to conceive, develop and run nuclear/particle physics experiments at electron accelerator facilities and analyze their results with minimal supervision.
• A PhD in physics with extensive post-doctoral expertise in the execution and analysis of nuclear/particle physics experiments with electron beams is required.

The appointment will be limited to a maximum of two years and will be made at the Research Assistant Professor level with an anticipated start date of Fall 2022. Funding for the salary will come from ongoing grants of the ODU group; hence, continuation is contingent on availability of funds.
