Scientific manager job at Los Alamos
The Group Leader (GL) of the Nuclear and Particle Physics and Applications Group (P-3) will report to the Physics (P) Division Leader and provide scientific, technical, and operational leadership of a group of approximately 45staff, postdocs, students, contractors, and guest scientists. The group carries out basic and applied research at LANSCE and other facilities around the world in the areas of fundamental symmetries, heavy ion research, nucleon structure physics, and nuclear data.
The GL, working with two half-time deputy group leaders, will provide leadership of the Group's activities effectively championing capabilities and personnel. The successful candidate will function as a key part of the division management team, sharing responsibility for the objectives and mission of P Division, including planning scientific and programmatic directions, and ensuring sound management practices. The successful candidate will support the Group's strategic and tactical planning directed toward maintaining and achieving the long-range Group vision and mission. They will help in development of the group's and division's strategic plan, developing programs, promoting effective partnering with other LANL and outside organizations, oversight of group finances, human resource management, and safety & security management.
