The Department of Physics at the University of Virginia (UVA) invites applicants for a Research Associate position to work on photonuclear experiments at the High Intensity Gamma Source (HIGS) of the Tri-Universities Nuclear Laboratory (TUNL) located on the campus of Duke University.

Please see attached for further details.

The Medium Energy Physics Group in the Physics Division at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking exceptional candidates for two postdoctoral positions beginning as soon as the Spring of 2019.

The Department of Physics at Syracuse University is soliciting applications for a post-doctoral researcher who will work on the program at Jefferson Laboratory, Newport News VA to measure parity-violating electroweak asymmetries. The primary responsibility will be to participate in the design of two new major spectrometers, SOLID and MOLLER. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in ongoing experiments at Jefferson Laboratory, including the commissioning and data taking of the approved PREx and CREx parity-violating electron scattering experiments in Hall A.

The 2019 National Nuclear Physics Summer School will be held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville from July 8th to July 19th. A series of lectures will cover current topics of interest across the field of nuclear physics. Excursions to Oak Ridge National Laboratory (including a tour of the historic graphite reactor), the Smoky mountains, as well as non-physics discussion sessions will be included.

Graduate students as well as postdocs are encouraged to apply.

75th SUSSP and 20th STFC Summer School in Nuclear Physics and its Applications

University of St Andrews, Scotland, 5th - 17th August 2019.

The Carl H. Westcott Fellowship is awarded each year to a graduate student whose research work is being carried out at TRIUMF or on TRIUMF-related projects.

The due date this year is April 30 - application forms will have to be submitted by the department chair or head, as always. Eligible students can receive a $9,400 fellowship this year.

The Medium Energy Physics (MEP) Group at Mississippi State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The group has research interests which include studies of nucleon structure and hadronic physics at Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA, such as the precision measurement of the proton and deuteron charge radii, charge symmetry violation in quark distributions, and search for the onset of color transparency. The MEP group recently completed two experiments in the newly upgraded Hall C using the 11 GeV electron beam.

We have multiple openings for staff members in the Nuclear Data & Theory (NDT) group of the Nuclear and Chemical Sciences Division The NDT Group performs research in nuclear theory to provide a fundamental understanding of atomic nuclei, their role in the universe, and their impact on the Laboratory’s national security missions. Key areas of fundamental research include ab initio and density-functional approaches to nuclear structure, nuclear reactions, and nuclear fission, the study of quantum chromodynamics, and relativistic heavy-ion theory.

The Center for Neutrino Physics at Virginia Tech invites applications for one postdoc position. The Virginia Tech group is involved in the study of neutrino oscillations. The successful candidate will work primarily on nuclear models for neutrino interactions using electron scattering data from Jefferson Lab. The candidate will work on the analysis of the electron scattering experiment on Argon at Jefferson Lab. Work will involve collaborating with leading experimentalists and theorists in the field in developing and testing nuclear models for neutrino interaction Monte Carlo generators.
