The appointed individual will primarily work on analysis of polarized proton data taken in 2015 and 2017 by the STAR experiment at the Brookhaven National Laboratory.

The group's research interests include the study of sea quark distributions, the EMC effect, and parton energy loss with the Drell-Yan experiment at Fermilab. The group has recently joined the polarized Drell-Yan, E1039, experiment at Fermilab to study the poorly known gluon transverse momentum distributions using J/Psi production.

The Nuclear Theory Group at the University of Washington anticipates filling one fulltime postdoctoral position to start after January 1, 2019. Outstanding candidates in nuclear theory, broadly defined, are invited to apply. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to join our ongoing Drell-Yan effort with the SeaQuest collaboration at Fermilab and our MUSE effort with the MUSE collaboration at PSI in Switzerland. SeaQuest has completed its running with unpolarized liquid hydrogen and deuterium targets and is now setting up to run with polarized targets to study the u_bar and d_bar Sivers functions and their connection to the orbital angular momentum of light sea quarks.
