NSCL's Gamma-ray Spectroscopy Group invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the experimental nuclear science program at the Coupled Cyclotron Facility with a focus on work with GRETINA, the novel US next-generation gamma-ray detector system designed to study the structure and properties of atomic nuclei. GRETINA is presently running its second fast-beam campaign at NSCL, coupled to the S800 Spectrograph for in-beam gamma-ray spectroscopy experiments with rare-isotope beams at velocities of v/c > 0.3.

The National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory (NSCL) at Michigan State University (MSU) is searching for a detector physicist to join the NSCL Detector Laboratory.

Major Position Responsibilities
· Fabricate, optimize, and maintain detector systems for Operations and Nuclear Physics experiments;
· Support the development and R&D of new detector systems; and
· Perform research and development projects to enhance the performance of the facility

The Department of Physics at the George Washington University has an opening for a Postdoctoral Scientist to work on construction of the MUSE (Muon proton Scattering Experiment) Data Acquisition System (DAQ), starting February 2017. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Evangeline J. Downie and other members of the MUSE collaboration. The research will be performed both locally in Washington DC, and during extended stays at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland.

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate position in experimental subatomic physics at the Institut de Physique Nucleaire d'Orsay (France). The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be participation in the design, construction and experimentation of a new detector set-up for the measurement of the electric form factor of the proton at very low momentum transfer. The experiment will run at the PRAE (Platform for Research and Applications of Electrons) facility, currently under construction in Orsay.

Staff Scientist (Instrumentation - Physics Division) - 82927

The Physics Division (http://physics.lbl.gov/) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) has an opening for a Staff Scientist with expertise in instrumentation. We invite applications from experimental physicists with a record of substantial accomplishment and creative ability for one or more Staff Scientist positions.

The Department of Physics and Applied Physics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for the following tenure-track positions to begin Fall 2017.

The Theoretical Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory invites applications for a staff scientist position in Nuclear Theory within the T-2 group (Nuclear and Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology). Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in nuclear theory or a closely related field. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability to conduct independent research in nuclear theory or closely related areas, as well as strong communication and leadership skills.

Thomas Cohen

The Nuclear Theory Group at Brookhaven National Laboratory plans to hire an outstanding theorist at the level of Associate Physicist. The position will be a joint position with the RIKEN-BNL Research Center as a RHIC Physics Fellow. The candidate chosen would be hired for an initial term of two years with the possibility of an extension up to five years and eventual promotion to a tenured staff position. In exceptional cases, a hire at the physicist level will be considered.
